This course examines the nature of the Chinese community, its many divisions and correspondingly contradictory unity, the cultural context of how civic participation is perceived by the Chinese and worked out in practice. The course highlights the historical context of (the lack of) participation and suggests strategies on how to effectively engage with the Chinese community in a meaningful way.<\/p>\n
